As
I See It
Jesus is coming again soon!
In the
midst of the pessimism, gloom, and frustration of the present hour, there is one
bright hope, that is the promise of Jesus Christ recorded in
I will
come again."
The importance of this hope of Christ's return is established by the
frequency, extent, and intensity of its mention in the Bible. It is
mentioned in all but four books of the New Testament.
Jesus constantly referred to His return, not only to His disciples, but
to others as well. He said to the High Priest, "Hereafter shall
ye see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of the Power, and coming on the
clouds of heaven."
One out of every thirty verses in the Bible mentions this subject.
There are 318 references to the second coming of Christ in 216
chapters of the New Testament. One-twentieth
of the entire New Testament deals with this His coming again.
Jesus said that no one knows the day nor the hour of His coming again.
Scripture, however, tells us enough regarding the time of Christ's coming again
to satisfy our faith, but not our curiosity.
Jesus
is coming, but, the day is hidden in the counsels of God.
Although
we do not know the day, hour, or moment of His coming, Jesus did give us
some indicators of when He will be coming. In
the Gospel of Matthew Jesus said: "But as the days of Noah were, so
shall also the coming of the Son of man be." (Matthew 4:37)
The days of Noah have been described as:
1. A time of widespread prosperity.
2. A time of widespread materialsim
3. A time of widespread ignorance of spiritual things. Read
themselves
teachers, having itching ears; and they shall turn away their ears from the
truth and shall be turned unto fables."
There
are many deceptive voices speaking out these days.
4. It was a day of widespread wickedness. Our world is on a
moral binge.
And
there is more....many signs such as these indicate to us that the time of His
coming is soon.
About a century ago a group of scientist were having lunch together in
that by
1969 “Man would know of what the atom is constituted, and would be able
to moderate, extinguish, or light up the sun.” A
physiologist, Claude Bernard, added, "Man would be so completely
the
master of organic law that he could be able to create life in competition with
God."
One of the famed DeGoncourt brothers, who was present on that occasion
later remarked in his Journal, "I have a feeling, that when this time comes
to science, God will come down to earth and say to
humanity,
the way they say at five o'clock in the salon, 'Closing time, gentlemen.'"
It
seems to me, its about that time. God will soon say "closing
time!"
What
must we do?
Be ready!
Be sure that you have repented of all sin and received Jesus
Christ
as your personal savior!
We can
know: John affirmed this in his writing of
Be excited!
